A dog leash policy applies throughout the park to keep the environment pleasant and safe for everyone. Waste bags are available throughout the park to help keep the surroundings clean and enjoyable. Your dog can also enjoy the beach and water at the park.
The area around Poort van Amsterdam is perfect for long walks with your dog. You will find various walking routes and nature areas nearby where you and your leashed dog can enjoy peace, space and the outdoors together.

🐾Waterlandse Zeedijk toward Marken
Starting right from the park, you’ll walk along the picturesque Waterlandse Zeedijk, enjoying views of the Markermeer, green meadows, and waterfowl. The route toward Marken is popular for its tranquility, open spaces, and stunning vistas.
🐾Hemmeland Recreation Area (Monnickendam)
Just a few minutes’ drive away lies Hemmeland, a green peninsula with walking trails along the water, grassy fields, and small beaches. This area is often mentioned as a great place to walk dogs.
🐾Uitdam – Monnickendam
A peaceful route of about 5 kilometers along the dike and through the typical Dutch polder landscape. Ideal for a relaxing morning or evening walk.
